Construction is a special industry which is different from other industries in many aspects. In general , for a B2C/B2B product , in many industries , If a product/service is sold , the payment is settled with immediately or some agreed with payment terms. But , in construction It is not so.

Typically , when a customer agrees to buy a flat/construct a house , the payment terms are set clearly in different stages . We can understand with the following terms. If a customer agrees to buy a flat from a builder, the moment when he decides to buy , a minimal advance payment is given. Based on the construction stage of the flat, the remaining payment schedules are set.

The following are few stages for reference

1.Legal Registration

2.Roof completion

3.Plastering completion

4.Plumbing and Electrical work completion.

5.Completion/Key handover

For all the above stages, certain percentage amount is set in total value for the payment. Imagine , the builder has to manage all the construction stage commitments and its payments with due dates. The customer has to be notified on stage work completion and reminder too. Also , if the builder has to deal with 100s of clients , do you think , it is easy ?
